We love mariscos and we're also in the food industry so we know food! Every time we come the food is consistent and delicious! We were greeted right away, service was on point and the ambience was family friendly. The Tacos de Pescado were cooked to perfection, capeado was light, fluffy and flavorful. Taco El Viejon delicious, tostada de camarón con pulpo full of flavor. I believe it was the owner who brought out some salsa negra to top off my tostada and it was spicy and delicious. We love this place and glad to have a real mariscos place here in Bonita. We're fairly new to the area and used to drive way down south for good seafood. Love this place!

Tried this restaurant for the first time today and it was great! The service was wonderful and the food options were more than I thought they had. Their birria tacos were delicious and their caldo de pescado (fish soup) was super flavorful. We also had their chilaquiles with steak, and those were amazing as well! Great spot with nice ambiance and delicious well portioned, dishes!

I learned that El Viejon offers $2.50 fish tacos on Tuesdays, so I order two and one beef birria quesa taco for $5.00. The fish tacos were of the battered and fried variety. The fish tacos were good but a little heavy on the batter and skimpy on the fish inside the batter. They tasty however, and came with some pico, shredded cabbage, and light on the sauces, which I liked. They were a good deal and $2.50 a piece. The beef birria quesa taco came double wrapped with smaller corn tortillas than the fish taco tortillas. The birria was very flavorful. It was tender and juicy with overtones of cloves. The taco came with a good amount of white cheese, onions, and cilantro. The corn tortillas were very good. The service was friendly enough. They offer inside seating only. The beer and wine is coming soon. There's plenty of parking.

Favorite fried fish tacos in SD! They have a great Taco Tuesday special, with $2.50 fish tacos. They're delicious and really large. Their other tacos are also great - my favorites are smoked tuna, marlin, and fried shrimp in addition to the fried fish tacos. El Viejon has easy parking and lots of seating also.

New spot in town. Been here a couple of times. Tacos: We ordered the gobernador (shrimp & cheese), spicy octopus, breaded shrimp, and breaded fish taco. All were good. The breaded shrimp was my favorite of the bunch as the shrimp was plump and flavorful. The tacos were portioned well. We thought it was interesting that all of their tacos are topped with accoutrements (plenty of cabbage, sauces, etc.), not just their breaded/fried tacos. Moreover, the gobernador included some sautéed red bell pepper and sautéed red onions. It was our least favorite. Birria Ramen: Very tasty. Plenty of meat. Wish there was more of that delicious broth. We ordered this as takeout. They did not package the noodles separate from the broth, so our noodles ended up on the softer side. If you like your noodles to have more of a bite, consider eating this at the restaurant. Birria Quesedilla: The same wonderful birria that they use in the ramen, but without the noodle problem. Flavor is excellent. Portions are good. ___A M B I A N C E___ Interesting. It's like a casual space that is trying to be a cute spot. The dining area is decorated with some artificial plant wall panels and neon signs. The restaurant itself was much more spacious than we expected. ___E X T R A I N F O___ -If you want birria, get there earlier during service. One time, we arrived late afternoon and they already sold out. We were told the next batch wouldn't be ready for a few more hours. -Minimal parking up front. More parking in the adjacent lot. -Restroom was clean. -Alcoholic beverages coming soon. -No complimentary chips. -No salsa bar, but they do provide a couple squeeze bottles and lime wedges. Sliced radishes came with the quesabirria and birrira ramen. Overall, this is a nice addition to Bonita. Their tacos, while good, are not as good as the other place down the street. What you really come here for is the birria.

Fairly new & a hidden Gem in Bonita & now one of my fav Marisco spots in SD, El Viejon. And you get the best of both worlds here, Mariscos & Birria, so if the kids don't do Mariscos get them Birria tacos. The Birria broth & tacos are one of the best in SD & portions are good, get Birria Ramen & you can feed 2-3 people no lie. I'm about those Birria queso tacos & so are my kids, their Botana of shrimp & Octopus is also amazing & can feed up to 4 people. I love how they cook the octopus here, near to perfection & that's why I love their Taco De Pulpo (octopus) enchilado it's amazing! Also a big fan of their Marlin & Shrimp Enchilado taco. Their customer service is great in here, very attentive & friendly & fast, clean restaurant with a great Mexican vibe to it with great paintings of Mexican icons. Now let me tell you about me & my wife's favorite item here & the main reason why we keep coming, it's that Smoked Tuna Taco, it's ORGASMIC! I ain't lying, my wife even blushes as she bites into it! One of the best tacos in SD & that I ever had here or in Mexico & I eat a lot of tacos in many places. I hear soon they gonna have micheladas, it's game over when that happens I can't wait. They have a loyal customer in me & my family, my siblings, cousins & parents all come here & will continue to come. Keep up the great work Viejon, see you soon & keep that Tuna smoking amigos!

This place just opened and I really wanted to try it. The decoration is so cute, and very clean. The cashier was very nice. I did ask her to lower the music because I couldn't hear what she was saying to me and vice versa. She lowered it right away. I was the only one there. I took an early lunch but was so excited to try the ceviche. The fish ceviche was not ready so I ordered the smoked salmon taco and the octopus taco. DELICIOUS!!! The tacos come with 2 tortillas each so basically I got 4 tacos for the price of two. I'm so excited to go back and try the fish ceviche. This place is a hidden gem in Bonita. A must try for sure!!!!
